Using the PostEm Tool

Creating a File to Post

There are three different ways to use the PostEm tool within an OWL site.

For PostEm to import files:

Posting a File

To post a file:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the lefthand menu.
  2. Click Add
  3. Next to "Title", enter a title for your file (30 characters maximum).
  4. Click Browse (for Windows) Choose File (for Mac OS), and navigate to your .csv file.
  5. If you wish to release the feedback to participants (i.e., allow your students to see the grades), check off Release feedback to participants?
  6. To save your file Click Post to finish; to cancel, click Cancel .

Once you have created your file, you can modify it as you wish, as long as you stay within the guidelines above

Downloading, Updating, or Deleting a PostEm File

Downloading a Posted File

Once you have posted a file in PostEm, you can download, update, or delete the file.

To download a posted file:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find the file you want, and click Download .

If prompted, save the file to your computer.

Updating a Posted File

You can update a file once it has been posted.

To Update a file:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find the file to update and click Update
  3. Next to "Title", you can change the title if needed.
  4. Next to "Choose a file", click Choose File and navigate to your new .csv file.
  5. If you want to release the feedback to participants (i.e., allow the students to see the grades), check Release feedback to participants? This option may already be selected based on the original file.
  6. To save your file, click Post ; to cancel, click Cancel
  7. On the Verify Upload page, you can preview how the file will appear. To continue and post the file, click Save . To return to the upload screen, click Back .

Deleting a Posted File

You can delete a file once it has been posted.

To delete a posted file:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find the file you want to delete, and click delete
  3. To confirm the deletion, click Delete

Viewing Feedback in a PostEm File

Instructors or assistants can use PostEm to post files that include grades, comments, or general feedback for site participants.

Viewing Feedback in a Posted File (for students)

If an instructor or assistant had posted a file, to view your feedback:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find your file, and then click view.
    • Your feedback from the posted file will appear.
  3. To return to the main PostEm screen, click Back

Viewing Feedback in a Posted File (for instructors and assistants)

Instructors and assistants can view feedback in the entire posted file or the feedback for an individual participant.

To View the Entire Posted File:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool from the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find the file to view and click view .
    • The contents of the posted file will appear. Names of participants who have not checked their feedback will appear in red.
    • Under "Last Check", you can see the last time participants checked their feedback
  3. To return to the main PostEm screen, click Back .

To View Feedback for a Single Participant:

  1. Enter the PostEm tool in the site's lefthand menubar.
  2. Find the appropriate file, and click view participant
  3. Use the drop-down list to select a participant. You'll see the feedback as it will appear to that person.
  4. To return to the main PostEm screen, click Back .
